Technology Support Programmer

Permanent or Short Term contract depending on experience.
Description:
The focus of this programming position is to support our industry leading cross platform game technology in use by our game development teams on Xbox, PC, GameCube, PlayStation 2 and emerging platforms. As part of our dedicated technology team you will work closely with the game teams to provide them with high quality support for technology and tools, offering hands-on information and solutions, ensuring that the technology is working efficiently for the game, as well as developing new features and hot fixes.

Core Technology Manager
Expectations:
Below is a non-exhaustive list of the Company's expectations of this Technology Support Programmer position.
• Work with technology programmers to develop in-house tools and technology.
• Work closely with game programmers to ensure that the technology is meeting the need.
• Provide information and suggest solutions both informally and in the form of technical documentation.
• Track open issues and bugs, following up where appropriate and creating test cases as necessary.
• Test fixes and changes to technology where appropriate.
• Maintain working and compatible builds of game and technology code, ensuring that build and installation processes are working and tested.
• Liaise with game development teams.
• Contribute innovative and original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development.
• Game and technology profiling and performance tuning.
• Adhere and contribute to programming and documentation standards.
• Remain up to date on all aspects of cutting edge programming.
Essential Qualities:
• Strong C/C++ skills with game development programming experience.
• Working knowledge of current console and/or DirectX technologies as well as a wide range of game development techniques and technologies.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to be diplomatic when required.
• Experience of 3D modeling tools would be a benefit.
• Computer programming related higher level qualifications advantageous but not required.
• Mature professional attitude and work ethic.
• Ability to fit into a dynamic and creative team environment.
• Will be thorough in their approach to problem solving and able to function independently when required.
• Needs to be comfortable working to deadlines.
• Attention to detail is essential and all tasks must be carried out to the highest standard.
• A willingness and ability to learn is essential.
Overseas Candidates:
For us to process your application you need to hold a full entry work permit. If you currently hold a working holiday visa which entitles you to undertake casual employment your application will not be considered as this position is permanent and may require you to reside in the UK.

Technical Author/Development Support
| Technical Author/Support Specialist required by our client a software solutions provider based in Cambridge. Your main responsibility will involve writing, developing and editing product documentation including end-user manuals, release notes and online help. In addition to this you may be involved in creating and documenting example configurations, building and reviewing product demonstrations and creating tutorial material for use in training courses. You will also be involved in defining documentation requirements for new projects including specifying schedules and organizing reviews for use in training courses. To be considered for this role you will ideally have technical work experience in a software development environment and a working knowledge of VBScript, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint, RoboHelp X5 and Adobe Acrobat would be an advantage. The ability to work from functional specifications and to liaise with Developers is essential, graduate also considered. |

This is an exciting and high responsibility role working for a successfully IT company in the Essex/East London area. You will work on writing operating/ user manuals for the companies products and must be highly analytical and have an excellent grasp of written English.
